How does arrival time and breakfast work at APS?

My daughter is a rising kindergartener at Campbell Elementary. She is riding the bus. I know they serve breakfast but I don’t think I want her to eat school breakfast because the menu looks gross. On the other hand, school starts EARLY (we are a 7:50 start) so I imagine we will have trouble getting to the bus on time. We’ll see what time it comes. Anyway, what happens after the kids get off the bus? Do some go to the cafeteria if they are eating breakfast and others go to their classroom? Do any kids eat a packed lunch? What do the kids do with that time before school starts if they don’t eat breakfast?

They Will let you know all about this at open house next week. Not sure what the protocols Will be this year post Covid, but in past years kids have gone straight to their classroom. They typically wait in the hallway for a few minutes until the teacher let them into the classroom. In the morning they have activities they can do before school officially starts. This may be finishing old work, doing a quiet activity, etc. a teacher will release the students to go get their breakfast from the cafeteria. Many schools have their extended day program in the cafeteria so It can get a little hectic if they go straight there off the bus.

Don’t let her eat the breakfast. It’s sugary muffins and pastries. It’s not even McDonald’s level quality.

I work at Campbell- kids either go straight to the cafeteria and eat breakfast or to their classrooms in the AM. The teachers have things for the kids to do before morning meeting starts- also it takes Kinders forever to unpack at the beginning of the year. Lots of kids pack lunch and lots get school lunch- they all eat together.
