We are somewhat distant from many of these countries, but if enough cases spring up there an in Eastern Europe, it is inevitable that measles will make a return in any country with low vaccination rates.

Pretty frightening. DC has so many people that travel internationally, I always feel more vulnerable here than I would elsewhere.

When my aunt was pregnant, she contracted German measles (rubella), and my cousin was born severely hearing impaired and mentally disabled. I always think of him when people discount the seriousness of some of these diseases.

Nevertheless, we are going with a delayed vax schedule and skipping some altogether because a Playboy model told me vaccines give you autism. JK

I'm keeping my eye on Ashland, Oregon - one of the lowest vaccine rates in the country. Will be interesting to see if places like this are hit early.
