DDs friends name is Anastacia.
What do you assume? |
| That her friend's parents are not nice people. |
This. |
Why? |
| Ugh. I assume the parents are idiots and don’t know how to spell Anastasia. |
|
I must be missing something. I don’t know why people would assume anything about the parents, much less that they weren’t nice people.
My only association of the name is with the Russian princess. As a name, I would place it with a certain kind of elitism, in the sane genre as names like: Tiffany, Victoria, Regina, Maximillian, Augustus, Leopold, etc. I think Anastasia is one of the prettier names in this category. While I wouldn’t choose any of these names, I don’t judge them negatively. |
Because they're taking to DCUM to talk sh!t about a CHILD'S name? |
Her parents are snobby. We know an Anastacia, her dad is almost insufferable. Or they have some Russian heritage. |
| I've known a Stacia and Staci whose formal names were Anastasia/Anastacia. They were both evangelical Christians and their parents presumably liked the "cross" aspect of the name. |
| I have no associations, positive or negative. |
This. What am I supposed to be thinking? |
That her parents like the name? Very common Russian or Greek name. |
Different name. It's pronounced An es ta see ah |
| I really don’t like it. I would think you were foreign or had bad taste. |

I went to grad school in Pittsburgh and knew a few women with this name and they were all of Polish ancestry.
