I got a flyer months ago for a "room shampoo" service that claims you can extend the life of your roof by simply having them clean it. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it worth it or should I just save our money for the day when we'll have to replace the roof?
Do you have moss and stuff growing up there? If not, I'd let it be. If they are pressure washing it, it could cause some serious damage, depending on the type of roof you have and what condition it's currently in.
Save the money for eventual replacement. It only costs, what, 5,000 bucks to replace a roof? (Less if you go cheaper). I can't imagine they are going to charge you less than 500 bucks for the "roof shampoo" - right? Regardless, I'd save the money toward a new roof.
They just cleaned my roof and it looks brand new! Roof Shampoo does not use bleach and the operator showed me the pressure was low by putting his hand under the sprayer. Not enough pressure to disturb the granules. I will recommend them!
I never heard of this, but I have some green moss or fungus growing on my small addition. Rest of roof is fine as I got it replaced about 5 years ago (roofer said addition roof did not have to be replaced at the time). Does this work for the green stuff or do I need to explore getting that reroofed?
When we were getting quotes for our roof it was closer to $12k. Luckily we have a friend in the business and we were able to get a roof for just under $5k. |
