Food, Cooking, and Restaurants

I want to take my husband out for a nice birthday dinner next week and I'd like to try a place in Old Town Alexandria. Please post your suggestions. We never go out without the kids and this will be our first 'grown-up' dinner in almost a year.
Thanks. |
Columbia Firehouse. Beautiful interior and great food.
Restaurant Eve if you want to go very fancy but pricey. We love to start out at Grape and Bean for wine/cheese/bread and then wander off to another restaurant that we bump into in Old Town.

Restaurant Eve is wonderful, but like a PP said, pricey.
I would also suggest Columbia Firehouse or Majestic. |
I was going to suggest the two above too!
Eve all the way
Another recommendation for Eve. If you can't get reservations, try Brabo just down on King St towards the metro.
Majestic is less pricey than Eve, and I think the food is MUCH better than Columbia Firehouse. I don't think there is any way you'll be able get a reservation at Eve. Brabo, Morrison House, and Vermillion are also very nice.
PS--I see a fair number of kids at Columbia Firehouse. Less so at Majestic and Vermillion if you're looking for kid-free atmosphere.
While it is not super fancy, before kids we loved Evening Star Cafe.
Bastille - it is a short drive or long walk from Old Town, but it is a wonderful value. Not as expensive as Restaurant Eve. Husband and wife run, classic french.
A la Lucia, very good italian on the north side of Old Town.
