Pre pandemic i hated the taxi stand, it took forever and since we live in Arlington most cabs were for DC and had to often be skipped over. Combined with noise and exhaust smell it was a miserable 30-60 min wait
With new traveling routines, and Uber is the taxi stand faster better these days? Any changes with construction at airport? Is Uber better (I have heard there is a shortage and it is much more $$$). We are going within No Arlington so are fares still about $20? We could rent a car too, but would be a $100 for the day. Any insight on these various options to Escape from DCA after a 10 hr flight? |
I'd do Uber or Lyft but have them pick you up on the departures level.
We've never had a problem doing this and never had to wait more than 10-15 min for an Uber XL. Uber Xs are always much quicker. I open both apps and see who can get there the quickest and cheapest. |
Eh, unless you are going somewhere crazy, I'd do taxis. Waits have been minimal and the prices significantly less than Uber. |
Uber, look at waits as soon as you get off flight. Make a judgement call then. |
This might not be helpful at all, but I always use Lyft to get out of IAD and it's quick and cheap. |
Did it a few weeks ago a bit later (6;30?) and it was fine for Virginia. |
I’ve been taking taxis from DCA when I don’t drive/park. Usually cheaper than Uber because of Uber surge charges. I go to Bethesda and never had trouble with skipping cabs. Do they still do that? I thought that was from the days that DC cabs didn’t have meters. |
We are a family of 5 with significant luggage, so would need wait for a minivan or get Uber XL. I hear Uber is way more expensive now? Haven’t used it since pandemic either. |
Yes, just get a Van taxi - if there aren't any in the lines, the attendant will call for one. Uber has been 2x more expensive for us than taxis. |
