DH and I really needed a short staycation, so this past weekend, my parents watched our daughter and we stayed for 2 nights on the club level of the Ritz Carlton DC (the one on 22nd street). I can’t recommend it enough. The service was absolutely impeccable. We got there and found the most delicious chocolate chip cookies in the lobby (the Kennedy family recipe). They were honestly the most delicious chocolate chip cookies I’ve ever had.
The club lounge offers complimentary breakfast, light lunch, and snacks throughout the day, as well as complimentary beverages (including alcohol). It’s frankly enough food that we didn’t need to go anywhere else. For example, at 5pm, they put out a massive sushi platter, along with chicken wellington and other very substantial snacks that could be combined into a meal. The staff working in the lounge remembered what we were drinking, and constantly offered refills. We didn’t leave the hotel at all. We just hung out in the club lounge and our room. When we called for our bags to be brought down, the bellhop asked if we had a car with the valet. We said we did, and he said, “we will have your bags in your car when you’re ready to leave.” Our car was waiting for us outside the hotel when we left later that morning. The valet offered us water bottles on our way out. So if you’re looking for an amazing staycation, I really recommend it. |
| Sounds amazing. How much? |
| I love the Ritz! |
| How much? |
| It’s not cheap — $1700 for the two nights. But it’s SO worth it. |
I can think of a lot of restaurants in DC that money can buy for some incredible meals that aren’t in the hotel lounge and still have enough time for lots of, um, bedroom activities. |
We’ve lived in DC since 2005, so honestly the opportunity to eat some legitimately delicious food and have complimentary alcoholic beverages in the lounge was a lot more appealing than trekking around DC. |
| That sounds fun! |
| Are the beds noisy? |
| Hmmm...so you sat around and ate hotel lounge food? Fun. |
If it’s not for you, it’s not for you! Ritz Carlton Club Lounge food isn’t your typical hotel lounge food. The sushi in particular was excellent, and DH really enjoyed the endless old fashions .
To the PP: The beds aren’t noisy at all. |
*old fashioned |
Sounds amazing to me and great for couple quality time. Thanks for the report, OP! |
| Sounds fabulous - I love luxury hotels! So glad you had a good experience. |
| We’ve done the Ritz in Georgetown a number of times for a staycation and it’s great too. I wouldn’t stay on the Club level because half the fun of getting away from the kids is being about to go to nice restaurants. |
