If you have any knowledge or experience with Pure Barre and Orange Theory or any of the franchise-type fitness places I would like to know your opinions. I need to be told what to do and I like group fitness. I want to get cardio, strength and toning, core, and flexibility in a one stop shop.

Pure Barre and OT are two completely different workouts, different atmosphere, different energy levels...different everything.

OT is high energy, focused, fast, and competitive. You'll see results pretty quickly, but it takes a lot out of you. When I was an OT member I did it 2-3x's per week, and also did barre (Bar Method) as a complementary workout. Sort of Yin and Yang really. By the end of the week I was burnt out.

I have since stopped doing OT and BM, and discovered Barre3 which is a great combo workout. Cardio+Strength+Flex+Core.

I suggest looking into OneLife fitness. They have a large variety of classes: weight, barre, spin, yoga, dance, swim and HIIT. With gyms all over the area.

barre is my low impact low results work out. I do it to fit a workout in, enhance core strength, but it’s not gonna burn the calories. Not sure what you’re looking to do. Why don’t you do ClassPass and you can try out a whole bunch of different things in your area?

OP here. I’m in NoVA outside the beltway, so limited options. OT and Pure Barre are near enough. One Life Fitness is okay, too. There’s a Fit Body Bootcamp nearby. Those are 30 minutes of high intensity and weights. Seems too short, but maybe you’re dying from exhaustion at the end.

Tons of studios on ClassPass outside the beltway. I went to one today. I think it’s free trial.
