DH's birthday is coming up. looking for a swanky restaurant, along the lines of indebleu or zola (sort of a lounge feel). anywhere in NW would be great, vegetarian friendly.
thanks! |
WE absolutely love Mayrayos. http://www.mourayous.com/
try soussi in adams morgan as well as mama ayesha's ... not as swanky as the two you've mentioned but definitely hip. nom nom nom.
Love Rasika, fabulous food and nice loungy atmosphere.
Zaytina?
I don't think that any of the restaurants mentioned would qualify as "swanky" except for Rasika. I would go with Proof, the Source, Bibiana, Blue Duck Tavern, or West End Bistro..
If you care about the food: Komi, Palena, Corduroy, Bibiana, The Oval Room, Potenza.
10:29 here, forgot Ris on 23rd and L. Delicious.
OP here -- wonderful suggestions! thank you!
oya, rosa mexicana, poste
Second the recommendation for Blue Duck Tavern. Yummy food and nice atmosphere.
Blue Duck is amazing.

Use this link, and search for an area, a cuisine, a price point, and focus on Editor's Picks.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/dc-restaurants.html Personally, I've loved Central, Blacksalt (esp. if you like fish and the service there was amazing, also brunch was awesome) and Palena and Komi. Also if you love sushi, I would go to the newly renovated Sushi Taro in Dupont. Yelp! has some good reviews too, but it's more in the style of the masses weighing in, like most user-generated content. |
coco sala is totally swanky and romantic. actually, more sexy than romantic.
I second the Sushi Taro idea (one of the best meals I've had in DC), but it may not be very "vegetarian friendly." (I also second Rasika and CoCo Sala. I cannot believe DC is so small that I've been to most of the places listed so far. Sad). BUT I'm not sure that telling OP to go to Yelp or Washingtonpost.com is all that helpful, since i'd guess most people know how to go online to narrow their search for a restaurant, but go to DCUM to get tips from other posters on DCUM. |
