Request old school records

Is it possible for one to request school records from 25+ years ago? Just curious to know how one did in school back then in comparison to how one's child is now doing in the same school system.

You can request them, but they might not have them available anymore. It wasn't all computerized back then.

I think public schools are required to keep records for a certain length of time, but it varies by state. After a certain amount of time they destroy the records. Don't know how long that is though.

And don't forget that schools have changed dramatically in terms of content and expectations. I don't think it's a fair comparison

I think any records that old would have been shredded.
