clothing budget?

How much do you budget (per year, per month, whatever) for clothes and what's your HHI?

I'm not talking big ticket designer items. More like socks, jeans, work outfits, and everyday items that need to be replaced from time to time.

Our HHI is around 450. We don’t budget per se but we also don’t buy especially fancy things. 1-2 pairs of nice shoes as needed for occasions or work (we both primarily wfh now) and most clothes are jcrew, jcrew factory, gao, old navy and a few nice classic higher end staples from bloomingdales or saks. Two young kids and their clothes are the same- mostly basics, a few nice things, new shoes and nice winter coats but not frivolous. Maybe we spend 3-4K a year? Not sure.

HHI is just shy of $300k and I don't think we really budget for that, which is funny be cause we budget for just about everything else. I'd guess we spending about $3k per year on our family of 3.

We are retired and spend very little on clothes, maybe $1-2k a year. I love to consignment shop and that saves me a lot. My husband hates to shop. Pur closets are crowded with clothes we never wear so it’s a good time to donate them.

HHI $300k, two kids ages 1 and 4.

Kids wear 99% hand-me-downs or thrifted everything

I (DW) but 90% of my stuff used on poshmark or thredup

DH probably hasn't bought clothes in years

HHI 250k, clothing budget probably $600. $150 in kids shoes; $150 in clothes for oldest; $300 in random replacement stuff.

Kids are 9, 7, 4. All boys so hand me downs work great for all but shoes. No sports equipment/uniform coats.

OUr HHI is around $220K.

I keep track of my clothing spend, it's usually $1,500 - $2,000 a year. I don't buy big-ticket "designer" items but that is my all-in number so if I bought a new winter coat, for example, it's included.

DH probably spends ~$500.

For DD, who is in elementary, it's probably somewhere between $350 - $500. That doesn't include gear for her activities.

Our HHI is roughly the same - I don't budget or keep strict track, but I would estimate I probably spend $2500-3000 per year on clothes. My husband probably spends $1200-1500. We're DINKs. We aren't big spenders overall - we drive one car, a paid off 11 year old Kia Soul, for example - but I do like clothes.

We probably spend $3-$4k. Income varies significantly year to year.

Seriously just spent $400 per kid on just uniforms for school!!! Grrr to inflation..... I spend maybe 500/yr on myself and spouse and an additional $300/ kid (in addition to uniforms) so maybe $3-4k for family of 4. Sometimes I will buy a very nice special occasion outfit which makes it more. HHI 800k. Yes, we're the frugal target/deal shoppers.

Teach me your ways! Do you keep a list of their clothes?
