| I'm thinking about trying to find a dog-friendly beach rental for a few days in September when (I hope) it will be a bit cooler. Any preferred location within about 3 hours of DC? I know there are some beaches where dogs are allowed after Labor Day but not sure what the current situation is. |
| Try Assateague. I know they allow dogs at least in certain areas. |

| After September 30, the Delmarva beaches all open up to dogs. The drive on beaches are open to dogs all year round but you need a permit and you need to have a fishing line in the water. |

Sandy point in Annapolis allows dogs off season but October 1 may be the first day.
Calvert cliffs and flag pond state park allow dogs year round. |

Dewey Beach in Delaware allows dogs on the beach all summer before 10 AM and after 5 PM. Our kids love to stay late at that beach because at 5 PM on the dot a ton of dogs appear. We are “cat people” but those dogs are just so happy and adorable! When our kids were little they called 5 o’clock “dog time!” even when we were at home.
Not sure if Dewey opens up to dogs all day long after Labor Day. |

They used to! I want to say mid-September maybe? It’s been awhile since I’ve frolicked on the beach with a canine friend.😢 |
It’s actually before 9:30 and after 5:30. |

Thanks, everybody! It I did a little more looking around online and it sounds like there are a bunch of dog-centric activities in the Delaware beaches in October, so maybe I'll aim for an early-Oct. trip, but Dewey is also a great option. Dog evenings on the beach sounds great.
