3 months old reduce bottle intake

Anonymous
3 months old used to drink formula in bottle 5-6 times a day 5oz each. And, for the last few days, she only drinks 2.5 oz/each bottle for 4-5 times. She poops often (like 1-3 times) daily, but I notice that she farts less these last few days.

She is happy and looks fine. And, she drools a lot, and sucks her fingers a lot. She has many baby acnes all over her face due to saliva.

1. What’s her weight?
2. How many oz per 24 hours?

Babies can be funny sometimes, I would check the bottles to make sure they are still venting correctly and if they might need a new nipple (sometimes they can get worn out) and if everything looks ok follow her lead for now, she’ll probably tick back up. The most important thing is not to pressure, some babies are very sensitive to pressure with bottle feeding and it can actually result in eating less. Offer at your usual times and follow her cues and see how she does over the next few days. She may have a little illness, early to teethe but possible

And of course contact your pediatrician if you are concerned or she stops having wet diapers throughout the day

What speed in the nipple flow?

You might want to switch to medium.

OP here. Thank you.

Baby was born 9 lbs, and pediatrician says that she should be at least 14 lbs by now. She is 13 lbs 9 oz now at 3 months old 10 days. We just change the nipple size (don't see much improvement in feeding more), and pediatrician only expresses a little bit concern of weight gain. We will follow up again at 4 months old checkup.
