| Which school would you prefer over the other? |
It really depends upon your major. But overall Marquette is definately the Better university. Milwaukee is a great town, and MU has great spirit. Very pleased with my kid's 4 years there. |
| Loyola if you are a nursing major |
Definitely Loyola for nursing. But Marquette is probably the better school overall. And Milwaukee is a great small city. |
| Saying "better school overall" without any supporting evidence is pretty worthless. I think both schools are quite similar and I wouldn't see any reason not to just choose the one you like the most. I know students who have loved each. |
| Yea I don't understand the "Marquette is clearly better" posters either. They're both large Jesuit colleges with similar programs and admissions standards. |
And Marquette is an AMAZING school for nursing! |
Marquette is consistently ranked ~20-25 ahead of Loyola in many rankings, if that matters to you. But yes, they are similar. |
Marquette is a great school and I like Milwaukee, but if one were to choose based on locale, come on, Chicago has more to offer (and I don't mean crime -- Chicago actually has a lower overall crime rate). But then again, I'm originally from Chicago so am admittedly biased.

The rankings difference at their level is meaningless. You're splitting hairs. |
Nope. It doesn’t actually. Much better use of lakefront in Milwaukee and a friendlier vibe. |
Chicago doesn't have more to offer (museums, culinary scene, performing arts, etc.)?! Maybe if you mean bars per capita and liters of beer consumed per student. But think what you like. |
| Marquette is definitely more fun! |
| I live in milwaukee & definitely think Chicago has more to offer- the art institute, its a big city but I feel like ppl really love Marquette and its a very close knit community/network and I don't really get that vibe from Loyola grads, they usually are more about where they went ti grad school?? if that makes sense? Marquette is not really close to the lake and the campus is kinda stuck in a highway bypasses though and you have to gettheorugh rough patches to get to the cute pats of milwaukee from campus as well. Loyola is in one of the suburbs on the lake right? Not right in Chicago from what I can remember. |
Umm .. Loyola is in the City of Chicago. And I’m sorry, but I am a Milwaukee native, and your description of Milwaukee is a little off too. |
