Do you like the person your adult child is dating? I'm not asking about tolerating or approving but genuinely liking.
I think my DS’s GF is a lovely person, but I do not think that she is the best fit for him.
|
I love my son’s girlfriend. She’s smart, funny, and a hard worker. She’s been so great for my son.
But, alas, they are just 21 and probably won’t last through graduate schools on opposite coasts. |
I am not in a relationship with them. Doesn't matter what I think. Their relationships are their business. I have my own life going on. Why would I concern myself with theirs? Waste of time, and my time is worth money.
^ Great - so why did you bother to answer? To show us how evolved you are? And yes, it actually does matter if you get along with your child's SO. When they are married and deciding where to spend holidays and whether they want to go on vacation with you, you will be SOL if your DIL or SIL hates you.
I really like my son's GF but my sister warned me - girlfriends are like goldfish, don't get attached as they will likely be replaced! All kidding aside, I think it is important to be kind and welcoming to all bf/gf - you never know who is going to end up a part of your family.
Its not easy to keep finding ethical, empathetic and loving partners. Parents can only hope.
I like my son's GF a lot, they've been together 7 years. I especially like her compared to his ex-W who was horrible. His GF is a nice, normal person which is a huge difference.
I like my daughter's partner who is also the stepfather/father to my grandsons. He's hardworking and loyal and he loves my 10 year old grandson even though there relationship was hard in the beginning.
I like my DD bf. They are very sweet together. But they will be in different cities for next two years. I hope them the best. They are in mid 20s. I would like to see them married eventually. He is a well brought up good kid and they both are very sweet together.
Long distance kills a lot of good relationships.
I like his GF, she is lovely but I don't think she or her family are a fit for him. He is into outdoors, adventures, travel. He is very independent. She has never been on vacations WITHOUT her family. She calls them daily, sometimes a few times a day. Very attached to her parents. I am starting to sense DS is getting annoyed as to how much involved they are in every aspect of her life.
How involved your family is with each other? |
I would be happy if they had one. I think they would too.
It doesn’t matter. They are adults.
