Jewel of India in Silver Spring is my fav. It's over where New Hampshire hits the beltway, so not downtown SS.

Delhi Dhaba in Arlington is great too.

I like Passage to India. Specifically the goat curry, but maybe that's too many small bones for a younger child.

Masala Art in Tenley is excellent. They can give you suggestions if he doesn't have favorites. Everything is excellent.
