Just curious.

week before school begins at a Meet Your Teacher event.

The week before school starts. Admin doesn't want parents reaching out to teachers before then. That week before school is staff week and teachers are back on duty.

A few days before school starts but sometimes you can see them in Powerschool a few days before that.

The last couple weeks of the previous school year.

Around 2 weeks before school starts we get class lists, family directories.

It's the app that our school uses to track attendance, grades, schedules of electives, etc. Like ASPEN.

last year my third grader didn't find out until the day of. The kids had to go look up their names on a list in the building.

That’s how we learned at my school in the 90s.

That must have been horrifying for them. Why does it matter?

Why would finding out the day of school be horrifying?

School to school; last year ours was online 8/16. (first day 8/30).

The principal sends out a newsletter every two weeks in the summer and has said class lists will be published Aug 12th. Really great principal.

List are shared the Friday before school starts. You go to school to see the lists during "Meet Your Teacher" or have someone who goes take photos of lists and send them to you. It's a small school and not many classes per grade, so it's nearly impossible for a student not to have at least one friend in their class, and many families don't check class assignments until the first day of school.
