Is Blumenthal dead in CT?

Anonymous
I thought Blumenthal's press conference was relatively convincing. His support of the military seems to have been strong enough over the years to justify giving him a bit of slack if he got carried away in solidarity with his buddies and blurred the line between Vietnam era service in the Marine Reserve and Marine service in Nam. But is the press likely to give his present-day explanation coverage anywhere near equal to that of his earlier snafus? I just saw an online vote that was 4 or 5 to 1 that he's dead meat.

I think he's toast. He never went to Vietnam and got several deferments. I'm a Democrat, but I really detest lying politicians.

Well you must never vote. Lying goes with their job. I know, I am a cynic.

It turns out the NYT either didn't fully research this or misrepresented what happened. The complete video, rather than just the edited portion described by the Times, shows that Blumenthal correctly described his service as being "during the Vietnam era" at the beginning of the speech. This supports his contention that the edited part is a misspoken comment, especially given that the Times can't seem to find another example of him misrepresenting his service.

In addition. Rep. Lindsey Graham made even more serious and repeated misrepresentations of his service record, yet is still considered a serious member of Congress. But, of course, it's okay if you are a Republican.
