I feel like I’m half-asking food for my 7mo

Each meal is either steamed carrot or steamed sweet potato mixed with either rice cereal, egg yolk, rice cereal, or almond/peanut butter. He enjoys them and gobbles them up. What should I try next. I prefer to make his food fresh from scratch (he eats two meals a day) so it should be something I can whip up quickly. Thank you!

Banana and avocado are both super easy.

Plain whole milk yogurt.

Give him food off your plate as long as it's not spicy or citrus. This is how we got our kids started. They're very healthy and eat everything

Citrus?

I made batches of simple fritters with spinach and garbanzo beans and goat cheese. My DD loved them. Cuisinart is your friend.

DS loves mashed garbanzo beans, blueberries and a little thyme.

Sage and sweet potatoes with plain Greek yogurt (but not too many root vegetables).

Why aren’t you giving him vegetables and fruit? It’s so easy to steam and make fresh everyday.

Watch out for heavy metal concentration. Stop the rice cereal completely and limit root vegetables.

And you can give him a whole scrambled egg. The white of the egg is where the protein is.

Fortified oatmeal with homemade applesauce is delicious!

Only if unsalted. Babies cannot handle salt.

A big NO on rice cereal!!! Oatmeal, rye, wheat - fine. No rice! It’s loaded with heavy metals.

Nanny here- Batch cook and freeze! Anytime I make the baby at work food, I make it a serving of 4+ and freeze the rest in cubes. I use one frozen portion a day, in addition to fresh food.

Salmon is super easy to prepare for a little one.

This is what I do. Except also spicy and citrus -- my kid refused plain rice but loved it with a bit of curry. OP, I am the queen of half-assing food for my babies because I simply don't bother to make them separate meals. I recommend leaning into it.

i'm still wondering about citrus.

i've read a lot about the importance limiting salt under 1. i don't see how that works if they're eating from my plate, unless I eat underseasoned food.

At 7 months I made purées and at 8 months I felt like it was repetitive too. Then she got good at picking up food and just started giving her everything we were eating. Its so much easier and keeps it interesting. I give her tastes of things like pickles, olives, whatever!
