Innovation ES Arlington

Recently moved to Arlington and will be enrolling my children at Innovation in 1st grade and 3rd. Anyone have children enrolled here? What is the school and neighborhood like?

Welcome! This is the second year that Innovation will be open so it’s still a fairly new school. Last year went well for us. My kid enjoyed his class and teacher. The school is very socioeconomically diverse. We have some very wealthy families and some not so well off families and everyone in between. The school admin is warm and welcoming and the principal seems to know every kid.

I heard that at least one of the 2nd grade classes were a little out of control last year (possibly just too many unruly kids in an inexperienced teacher’s class) so something to watch out for.

We had a great experience with a child in 1st last year and another grade last year. I think the school had a great first year. The special events were well run. It’s certainly a school with a diverse student body, and I’m thrilled my kids are experiencing that, which is very much like the last N Arlington school we were zoned for. My kids are meeting and or exceeding all benchmarks, and we have been happy with the teachers and their handling of that. Kids who are behind do not appear to be lost in the shuffle. It’s good to be at a school that is not overcrowded. Like anywhere, not every teacher is great but we were sure thrilled with the teachers we had last year and their professionalism.
