It was just a matter of time before this happened. Columbia is going to lose a lot of credibility

Looks like one and the same person is commenting 3x above.

Nobody cares because of Columbia's stature.

Nobody cares, that’s why there is a class action suit. Thanks for your brilliant assessment.

+1 looks like this having an impact. Sorry Columbia boosters, maybe don’t attend a cheating institution next time

Is this behind a pay wall?

Columbia gamed the system at USNews, like Northeastern and others, to climb the rankings. Period.

Columbia knows, as Princeton does, that US News is shady. It put its low-performing prof to work by him publish his opinion piece in a Columbia website. Its an indictment against US News, Columbia, and all other US New high-hitting ivy pluses.

The professor claimed Columbia cheated while other colleges didn't, but he didn't provide data to support this arguments.

US News rankings have NEVER been unbiased, people. I thought everyone knew that. The one who created the algorithm did not hide it.

A lot of universities do their best to manipulate their rank, since morons still rely on US News rankings. Some do it more than others.

I have no idea if Columbia is one of those, but for goodness' sakes - stop taking the US News rankings as gospel! They most certainly are not.

What are the damages? There are no damages 2 vs 14. Any future income is too speculative. How had anyone been harmed?

Right? What is the dollar value of being able to boast you attended a school rated #2 by a magazine, based on criteria that say nothing about the quality of the education you, as in individual undergrad, actually received?

If Columbia had deliberately lied about its data and bragged about its ranking at USNWR to encourage students to apply, then there could be a liability issue.
