DD has been offered a couple spots in different clubs for next year. One of the teams is being coached by a coach from her HS. Is there a worthwhile advantage to joining the team with the coach from your school, or is it better to join the stronger team?

Depends on what your DD wants out of lacrosse. If it’s playing at at high level going with the stronger team, playing in the more competitive tournaments and divisions is the better route. Being around, playing with, and having stronger players push you never hurts players. You want to make sure your DDs skills align well with the team she chooses. If your concern is her HS coach will penalize her for not choosing her club I would not let this thought direct you. The best players will play on any team. |
| HS club is still development, and recruiting if that is her desire. Go with the best coach, so DD can get continue to develop, and if your daughter wants to play at the next level it helps to factor in where DD is on roster depth, because girls r competing against their teammates when it comes to recruiting. All the top clubs in the DMV get in the top brackets, and coaches are at the games, so it is what DD does with her opportunity and who has her back. Good luck! |
| Unless it is for Capital, I'd be reticent about turning down a club that my kid's high school coach coaches. |
