Non perishable lunch ideas

Anonymous
Kids lunch has to be packed tomorrow am and will basically sit out in this weather until noon Friday. Last year for the same event (camp overnight) I found some mini packs of peanut butter and sent some ritz crackers. Couldn’t find the pb at either of the stores I checked today. What are other ideas? (She won’t do the tuna snack can). Thanks!

Kind bars
shelf stable milk
apple
peanut butter crackers

Are you sure they are leaving them outside? What camp?

You could make your own pack of pb in a plastic bag or takeout container that you saved.
Some other ideas:
Apple or banana or maybe a clementine (not peeled or cut)
Crackers
Trail mix (can make homemade if you don’t have)
Granola bars
Apple sauce
Slices of bread and some salami sticks
Beef jerky
Pb&j sandwich
You can buy little cartons of shelf stable milk and pack single serve things like cereal or muesli that come with a bowl

I’m surprised they’re letting kids have peanut butter, but if allergies aren’t a concern, why not send peanut butter Ritz Bits? They also have cheese Ritz Bits.

If she doesn’t like the tuna snack cans, what about the chicken salad snack cans? They also have cans pouches of other flavors.

Vienna sausages

Del Monte veggie bowls

All good suggestions. Thanks guys! I’ll be hitting Safeway in the am for some jerky and will look for chicken salad cans. I was curious if people would suggest pbj- I feel kind of grossed out by day old pbj…is it just me?

It isn’t just you. IMO pbj is good for a few hours at most and is best consumed upon preparation.

Why is a camp leaving food outside overnight - bears, fox, raccoons, are fair game?

Double check if you're able to send PB, that has been a big no at all of our camps this summer.
