Henrico public schools - less of a pressure cooker than nova?

Anonymous
Hi all, we’re considering a move from the northern Virginia area to short pump outside Richmond, does anyone have experience with schools down there recently in terms of whether the vibe is more low key and less pressure filled from peers to get into a top college? From what I hear that is very significant around here and it would make a big difference in our decision if moving would improve that.

Depends on the school. Deep Run HS pyramid is just like here - the kids, the parents, etc.

Thanks for this insight, I wondered if this might be the case.

Henrico Public schools are much like any other public school district, depending on the area there will be different demographics, socioeconomic backgrounds, etc. I feel as if Henirco most closely resembles Arlington Public Schools however, largely having a urban/suburban feel and diversity.

I had one who went to Chesterbrook ES in FFX and then to Short Pump MS and Deep Run HS and Henrico is significantly less of a pressure cooker.

Is Richmond metro still booming as it was in the past decade or so? Chesterfield and Henrico seem to have exploded in population, with Hanover becoming increasingly popular, much like Loudoun. Both exurbs but in the metro area.

If you’re a Confederate Flag aficionado, Hanover County is great for you.

Henrico is smaller FCPS- higher-performing schools out west, neglected and underperforming in the east.

+100 to all of this.
- Henrico native (East end, back when it was rural, underperforming, and neglected)
