My first daughter was sleeping 4-5 hours at a time by 4 weeks but 4 week old daughter is still only sleeping 2 hours at a time. With some recent nasal congestion, she's up sometimes every hour!!!!! Is this normal or is there something I can do to get her to stretch it out?
Probably normal, especially with the nasal congestion. I have a 9 week old. She was pretty much up every 2.5 to 3 hours until 6 weeks (thought it was going to kill me!). Then she began going 4-5 hours at least once during the night. For the past few night she has gone 6-7 hours and once went 9 hours between feedings. Absolute heaven although my boobs are killing me.

Absolutely, anything and everything is normal for a baby that age. My first was up every 2-3 hours through the 4th month. The every hour thing could be a growth spurt.
Definitely normal, as PP said.

Ugggh! I guess I was spoiled with my first born then. Man I'm tired!!!!!!!!
Thanks for your responses. |
Normal. My kid is 10 weeks and we're still dealing with the short sleep spans.
You were way spoiled, but be thankful...I'm sure all that sleep made it easier to adjust to parenting. Good luck!
Go easy on yourself...can you sleep when the baby sleeps?
I'm in the same boat with my 8 week old son. He wakes every 2-3 hours at night to feed. Worst still, he often wakes in between feedings with gas. ugh. I can't wait until this is done with. Someone told me it gets better when they get over 12 pounds.
DS didn't wake every hour. it was about every two or three, and even that nearly pushed me over the edge. hang in there!
