JCC's Camp Achva (Fairfax)

Posting this for folks who might search for summer camp recommendations next year-
My DS, age 6, is attending the Kadima Jr program at the JCC's Camp Achva and he LOVES it. On a drive home last week he said, "I'm so happy." When I asked him why, he said because camp is fun. They do social skills in the morning and then after lunch participate in traditional camp activities such as water play (every day), nature walks, arts, crafts, etc. He's even participating in the morning song/dance which I thought just wouldn't happen and included headphones for him just in case. Nope, instead I've been receiving pictures of him smiling, swaying, and participating in the dancing/singing which I've never seen before. Like ever. He's even talked about/shown us the moves he's learned. Completely unprecedented for him with respect to singing/dancing with others. Can't recommend this camp enough. |
