| What are your go-to dinners to bring to a new Mom (this one has a toddler at home too so something kid-friendly is good). Thanks for any ideas!! |
|
Chicken pot pie
Spaghettin and meatballs Pizza & salad Soup chicken enchiladas |
Lasagna - I usually assemble and then bring with cooking instructions, a salad and garlic bread (and, depending on the mom, maybe a bottle of wine
|
| My neighbor brought me a cheese lasagna and a batch of chocolate chip cookies, and I'll never forget it! |
| I brought some sandwich items from While foods to a sick friend and it was very well received. Nice soft bread from the bakery, fresh roast beef, curry chicken salad, tuna salad. |
| Something easily eaten while baby is nursing - my favorite was a noodle kugel that was easily cut with fork only and also stayed on the fork on the long trip from plate to mouth. Lasagna, if not too juicy, would probably fit the bill. |
| A basket full of snacks. Somtimes you don't have time for a full meal but having yummy snacks helps. Go to Trader Joes and get a bunch. |

Agree with the snacks thing--especially if she's nursing. I was STARVING at 2am and loved having easy snacks
Or...healthy, hearty muffins that can be frozen so she can defrost easily for her and her family for breakfast I sometimes make chicken/brownrice/veggie "fried rice" because it's light and so many freezer meals are heavy. |

I bring salmon teriyaki.
I agree about the snacks. When I was a new nursing mom a friend of my husbands brought over 2 big grocery bags full of Trader Joe's snacks. Cheese and crackers, frozen empanadas and tamales, pretzles with peanut butter, and stuff like that. I coudln't believe how hungry I was. |
Could you post the recipe for this? Or anyone? A link for recipes for this kind of thing? I'm looking for a meals to bring a new mom too. |
| I'm a new poster, but I always just "play it by ear" with the fried rice. I sautee the veggies (carrots, celery, onions) with little oil and garlic, add cold rice and a little soy sauce to it. and the "fried rice" is done! I'm sure you can add chicken or shrimp to it, but I usually serve the meat on the size. |
| Something easy to heat up (like lasagna) and also things that are easy to grab for a quick snack. My mother in law brought us a big bowl of fruit salad - when she dropped it off, my husband and I realized we hadn't eaten any fruit in days. |
| I bring over tons of rotisserie chicken from WF. They go a long way! |
I had a friend that brought me a couple of quiches...froze well and was good anytime of the day. Also it was a nice change to the heavy lasagnas and chicken enchilida casseroles that my mom made
