My daughter graduated college and we sent out a nice announcement card to close family after the ceremony.
A few people sent checks which is nice. No obligation. My Uncle (fathers brother) sent $500 to my daughter. I was very surprised at such a generous gift. But I looked on line and for class of 2022 average gifts range from $100 to $500 from close family members. I graduated college 37 years ago and $20 check was a good gift and a $50 savings bond was great (cost $25, $50 at maturity) But that was 37 years ago. What is the going rate? Not friends just close family. |
| Long-term family friends - gave $100. Would probably do the same for nieces/nephews. Maybe up to $200 by the time they graduate (they are all young and it depends on their paths too.) |
| Standard was $50 for high school friends kids for class of 2022, kids gave $25 to each other if they had a party. I’d think $100-$200 for college family. |
I'm 14:16 above and also agree with this PP for HS friends and party gifts. |

OP I am talking grandparents, godparents, uncles or aunts. They gave $100 -$200 with the one person $500.
Friends cousins much less or nothing. This is college not HS. |
| NP. My aunts and uncles are giving like $25. Sister gave $100. Not many in the family have sent anything. Oh, well. |
