APS yet another math placement question

Anonymous
The math placement letter we got for 6th grade says to reach out to the math coordinator at your kid's middle school with questions. Are those people answering email in July or are they off until teach training starts in August? Are those people actually the right people to reach out to if you want to discuss your child's placement or should you talk to someone at your kid's old school (or someone else at the new school)? I totally realize that my kid may very well have been placed in the correct class, but we do have a unique circumstance that I would like to discuss.

Email them and CC the principal and AP who are definitely working.

The counselors are working if you can’t get in touch with the math person.

They are working but may take a while to respond. If you don’t hear back after a week or two you can ping the counselor and/or principal.

I’d start with the suggested math person for your new school and give it at least 2 weeks for a response, knowing that it’s prime vacation time. After that call the front office of the school and ask how to proceed.

We are at Swanson and the math coach was very responsive when I emailed her in July last year. It took a day or two to respond instead of same business day, but she cares a lot about these kids. Not sure if she's officially a 12mo employee, but when we decided to try and reach her, it worked.
