Quiet place to have an evening drink in West End or Foggy Bottom?

I'm going to be in DC tonight and am meeting an old friend (also in DC briefly) for a drink. Can anyone recommend a good place for two boring middle aged ladies to have a quiet drink in West End/Foggy Bottom? We don't know the area well...
