Extracurriculars

What are your best tips for finding extracurricular activities for home schooled students?

In cities that have a lot of homeschooling, there’s often an option for homeschoolers (during the school day) and sometimes it’s not in their website, you actually need to ask. It also helps them to know that people nearby are looking for things through the day so they can consider it if not already.

There's a lit to be said for doing some extracurriculars while public/private kids can't, but I like to do some at the same times that those children do. It's important to me to provide an opportunity to mix with children who are different, and method of schooling is just one more difference.

So what is your problem? Why can’t you just join the same activities as everyone else, if you’re okay doing things on the weekend and evenings?

I'm not OP... as I said, I prefer to do a mix, some at a time when it's just homeschoolers, some with everyone.

NP. I do the same. My kid needs more friends, and this gives more opportunity for that to happen.
