Does anyone know if Bright Horizons at NOAA is still operating? They've had a "closed for COVID" notice for several weeks, and I can't tell if this is a temporary closure or if the location is permanently closed. |
I kinda wonder what the future is of some of these federal daycares with expanded telework options. |
Check with corporate BH. They have regional directors |
I'm not sure, but I do have another lead for the Dep't. of Commerce HQ itself. Commerce Kids is back open and they're currently taking students without a waiting list. My 2 year old goes there and it's great. Let me know if you'd like me to send you their info. |
Isn’t that downtown though? The bright horizons OP was asking about is in silver spring. I have no idea OP, I used to know families who went there but they’ve be all moved on. |
I contacted to corporate HQ (email below) and paid to get on the wait list but they were not sure if they would reopen or not when I spoke to them back in April or May. Rather annoying but its my top choice so went ahead and paid.
Here is the person who helped my at HQ: Stacy.Ginsberg@brighthorizons.com |
I have been on their waitlist for a while and I believe they are still closed. I think the Kiddie Academy and Goddard School in DTSS both have spots open, though, if you need something sooner. |
And by the way, their regional director did not respond to my email, after my center had cc'ed her, and after I addressed her by name in an email. Good luck getting a response from them! My sense is they're trying to "lawyer up" and not answer anything they think would paint them as negligent. Even though not responding to an email about a concern regarding their covid policy is negligent in itself. |
huh? did something happen that they were negligent? I thought they had just been closed since the start of COVID. |
Why must people always be dramatic? Nothing negligent has happened. We attended the center with our two older children until it shut down for Covid in March 2020. We would like our second child to attend so we are anxiously awaiting the good news that they are re-opening. They are in the NOAA building and have to wait until the NOAA people say they can re-open. They do not know at this time when the center will re-open but will reach out to people still on their list when they do have information. I know that Kerri (the Director) has moved on (she left right before Covid) and I assume most of the teachers have settled in to other jobs, but it was an amazing center and I hold out hope that maybe they will come back! |
Is this center still closed? Any idea when it will reopen? I'll be joining NOAA this fall, would be great to know. |
I don't believe they ever reopened. I'm a bit surprised because you'd think there'd be demand for a daycare center in downtown SS in general, even if it wouldn't be catering almost exclusively to NOAA employees as in the past. I believe NOAA's lease is up next year so maybe it has something to do with that. |
I paid to be on their waitlist over 2 years ago and they still havent opened. Agree that the demand seems to be there.
With Trump saying he is going to break up NOAA if he wins, maybe not the best time. |
They relocated to DTSS on Spring Street at the United Therapeutics building . There’s a Bright Horizons program there |
