Ordering crab leg clusters from grocery store

Anonymous
I know this is an idiotic question but I've never done it. I've seen other people picking up their crab legs and I see that they are steamed and ready to eat, plus I can smell the spices? So, when you place an order of crab legs at the fish counter how do you request them? Do you have to ask for specific spices or is it just a given you want old bay? Do you just ask for them steamed and seasoned? I want to buy some this weekend.

Also, can you order shrimp the same way? Steamed and seasoned?

omg lady. Please order from ProFish. They have drop sites all over and a store, and can answer questions by email how to cook it. Grocery store seafood makes he cringe.

Just tell them you want steamed crab legs and how much you want. They’ll ask you if you want them with or without Old Bay (that’s the spice you smell).

I suppose there do shrimp too but those are easy to do at home.

This, honestly I would just order carry out/family meal from Red Lobster. It’s all going to be flash frozen anyway.

Babe, pick up the phone and call the grocery’s seafood department with these questions.

It’s all easy to do at home (shrimp and crab legs). Throw them in a steamer and dump a bunch of old bay on them. That’s it. That’s all that’s happening.

Off-topic, but why would you not just ger steamed blue Maryland crab? If you are in DC no need for crab legs like that!

Much more work even if you know how to eat them, and I suspect the OP does not (based on not knowing what Old Bay is).

The taste is completely different. I prefer blue crabs, but realize people have different taste.

Poor OP even prefaces her question by apologizing for her ignorance, which she doesn't need to do, and still several mean, insulting responses.

People, seek therapy...

Have you seen the post on social where a guy on Reddit has sensory issues and doesn't understand Subway ordering and all these people broke it down for him without judgement, and people were so moved by the kindness....

You are the opposite of that. Congratulations.

OP - you don’t need to preorder. Walk in to Giant or Safeway, go to the seafood counter and tell the guy how much you want (or pick up the package in the refrigerated case) and ask if he can steam them for you. It just takes a few minutes. Ignore the bullies here.
