| Not quite sure what you’re looking for, but you might try Phyllis Whitney or Erle Stanley Gardner. If you haven’t read Rebecca by Daphne de Maurier, I’d recommend it, as well. |

Right before she died, Mary Higgins Clark did a series with Alafair Burke called the “Under Suspicion” series. They are pretty good, but of course are pretty formulaic in the Clark style.
I also recommend “Rebecca” to you, both the novel and the Hitchcock movie. The recent movie is OK and is certainly beautiful (scenery, costumes) but takes too many liberties with the material. |

| Christie is a hard act to follow. Some mystery authors I like: Elly Griffiths, Anne Cleeves, Tanya French, Brian McGilloway, Dervla McTiernan, Viveca Sten, Denise Mina. |

M. M. Kaye wrote a fun series of mysteries set in various places around the world, e.g. Death in Kashmir, Death in Zanzibar.
I also like M.C. Beaton's Hamish MacBeth and Agatha Raisin series, although the quality of her writing over the course of both of those is pretty erratic. |
