| It really seems like drivers don't have a F*CK about anyone. Straddling the lanes, riding my bumper, speeding and swerving without looking, practically running me off the road just to get in front of me then slam on the brakes. I used to commute daily and never saw such reckless driving. Feels like I'm risking my life driving my daughter 3 miles away to camp at 8:30am. What is going on?! |
| Yes - this is a big problem. I see people running red lights all the time. |
| Yes. Driving is horrible now, no one gives a F. Probably every day I see something and I’m like, you can’t just DO that!? |
| I'm trying to teach my teen to drive right now. It is not fun. Going the speed limit is infuriating the drivers around us, and we try to go out during non-rush hours. |
| Yes, they are way worse than before the pandemic. So are pedestrians. They just veer into the road, back to oncoming traffic or staring down at their phones like they're daring drivers to hit them. Grown adults walking into the street ten feet from a cross walk, not even looking. Really crazy behavior on all sides these days. They can lower speed limits all they want but people will still be hit if they can't respect the drivers around them. |
| I think I saw stats that showed an increase in speeding and auto accidents in the last two years. Anecdotally, YES - drivers seem much more aggressive, drive faster, and I feel genuinely concerned for my safety as a pedestrian. (I live in a walkable area of a generally non-walkable/non-pedestrian friendly city and state). I’m considering running for city council where I live to see more pedestrian infrastructure built/more signage/more limits on reckless driving. |
| No turn signals; always trying to beat the driver in front of them, not allowing anyone in their lane, etc. |
| Distracted driving leading to carelessness is something I am seeing a lot of these days. So scary when someone is checking their phone hole drifting into another lane on the beltway!! |
EXACTLY this! I have been blocked from trying to get off an exit on 270. It's like as soon as they see the signal they go out of their way to block you! This really never happened to me before. |
| Texting. |
| Flagrant red light running seems so much worse now. It used to be rare to see someone gunning through a red light (not yellow) and now I see it daily; sometimes more than once. |
|
In the city, people are driving in the wrong lane (into incoming traffic) just to pass. 25 mph speed limit.
Red lights are optional. Everyone texting. |
| I’m not in DMV, but I am terrified to drive sometimes. People are crazy and have lost their damn minds. I’m on the west coast, and people routinely go 20-30 miles over the speed limit and NO ONE STOPS them. In my suburban community, three young men have died in the last six weeks from driving recklessly. There is also violence and retribution if you honk at reckless drivers. |
| Someone tried to run me down in a cross walk yesterday. I was crossing with a stroller and they just straight up ran the red light through the intersection. |
Yep. I’ve found that drivers actually speed up when I’m in a crosswalk as if it’s some weird game of chicken. Wondering what they would do, if I didn’t speed up to get out of their way. Mow me down, I guess. |
