Transfer frozen eggs to another company?

Anonymous
I froze eggs at SGF years ago and haven't been able to make the jump to destroying them. I received a bill for another year of storage and it's over $800!! Has anyone transferred eggs/embryos to a cheaper facility? If so, where?

I would not advise transferring them, unless you are willing to risk compromising them.

I had my eggs frozen at SGF and VCRM. I transferred them to CCRM in order to add them to the family building plan when I was 40.

None of my 26 eggs survived the thaw. The lab director said that frozen eggs, particularly of "older women" (i.e. 30+) are more fragile, compared to embryos. She said that even a slight drop in temperature that can occur during transfer can affect the eggs.

If I had known that, I would have just kept them and thawed them at the original clinics.

not OP but I froze my eggs in 2018 at CFA for $600 a year and currently rates are $660 a year, 800 is a lot more.

I was paying $400/yr at a top hospital in the Midwest but that probably doesn’t help you

Any chance you will use them? If so, I would keep them there.
