If you work as a Store Manager

If you work as a Store Manger do you ever wonder who's going to call in "sick"? It's funny how people get sick in the summer time, if we won't short-staffed I would fire everyone that calls in "sick" with no doctor's note.

People don’t get sick during summer?

Come on, now? Do you think most people are "sick" when they call in "sick? Most of them are high school/college students, back in high school I only got sick a couple times..

Where did you get your medical degree?

So you want them to come in and spread Covid?

Doctor's note? What! Who goes to the doctor every time they're sick?! I'm only at the doctor if I need antibiotics or steroids for my lungs. There is nothing a doctor can do for viruses (which are the vast majority of colds)

Also, do you even pay their health insurance? Making someone pay to go to the doctor when they don't need to is pretty evil.

If they are under 26, you're under your parents plan!

NP and maybe their parents have a high deductible plan so it would cost $100 to go to the doctor. It seems like a giant waste of resources to ask for doctors notes unless someone is out for an extended period of time.

Do you let them pick their shifts?

Yeah, it's beyond stupid to require a doctor's note for missing a day. Most of the time there's nothing the doctor can do but tell you to rest and drink plenty of fluids. So you have to shell out the copay and take your germs out in public because your boss is a tool.

Teacher here. If I am sick more than three days in a row, I'm required to bring in a doctor's note.

OP I hope you don't actually manage a store because you sound awful and divorced from reality.

If OP doesn't trust his employees to tell him when they are actually sick, then he needs new employees. not doctors' notes.

You are so out of touch!
A lot of grownups don’t have health insurance let alone paying for grown (25yo) on their plan. My kid is on my family plan because my other kids and spouse are. But if I single with only a 25yo, I doubt I’d want to or be able to fork over $ to add them to my plan. And what if they have their own family? Chances are if they’re working retail for a nasty boss that requires a sick note, that is their only option and the family doesn’t have a cushy job with a employer substidized plan.

HAHAHA. And you’d spend your own summer working overtime to cover all the people you “fired” and couldn’t replace for your crappy wages and benefits in a time of incredibly low unemployment. But I hope you enjoyed pretending to feel powerful for a moment.
