guilt ridden! drinking during IVF cycle

I'm starting my second IVF cycle- on week 2 of b/c pills right now. After many weeks of abstaining completely from alcohol, I went to a wedding this weekend and uh, did not abstain. I had about 4 or 5 drinks. (We also had a death in the family so it was quite a week and I needed to blow off some steam.) Now I'm completely riddled with guilt and worried that I just doomed my cycle.

Did anyone drink like that during a cycle and have success? I just did some research and can find lots of people who said they had a glass of wine now and then and were successful. I'm hoping the fact that I'd been so good over such a long period of time will counteract my mini-bender.

Do not beat yourself up!!! You have not ruined your cycle. A drink here or there doesn't harm a thing. Being hard on yourself about it only adds stress, which will can do more harm than the drinks you had.

I am only an occassional drinker at best, but stayed away once I started bcps for my IVF cycles. After a couple of failures, I decided I wouldn't be so strict. On two cycles, I had a drink or two while on stims on one cycle and even had a beer the night before retrieval for the other and got a BFP for both. So, please don't worry.

I drank during all my IVF cycles, including the one that got me pregnant with twins. I really wouldn't sweat it -- esp since you are just in the BCP phase, I don't think it really counts as part of your IVF cycle until you are taking the stims. Good luck -- hope the cycle is a success!!!

My doc actually told me I could drink - he obviously doesn't want me passing out drunk, but he wouldn't want that even if I wasn't in the middle of a cycle. Don't worry about it. Besides - you're on BCPs - all is quiet and you probably haven't even started stims yet - that is when all the owrk happens anyway, right?

I'm on week 2 of BCP for my first FET and I am totally drinking!!! Do not feel guilty! Keep calm and carry on.

i drank/smoked through out my IVF cycles until the 2ww and now am pregnant w/ twins at 31 weeks.

I drank during the birth control part of the cycle. Even if you drink during the cycle (moderately, of course), there is no association between consumption of alcohol and outcomes of IVF.

I drank during my second and successful IVF cycle and during my successful IUI. Don't worry, it is fine. I went to a wedding the day of my transfer and drank then. That was the cycle that worked.....
