Holiday Gifts for Daycare Providers

Our son has been with an in-home provider since October and we really like her. We'd like to give her a holiday present. What and how much is generally recommended - cash or gifts (gift cards etc.)?

I'm in the same situation. I've heard that cash is the preferred gift and that the norm is one week's pay. Yikes! That seems like a lot! We love our provider and wouldn't want to give less than the other parents. But is this actually the average?
