Special Occasion Restaurant

We are looking for a restaurant to celebrate my parents' anniversary in June. We would like a restaurant where we could have a private or semi-private room for a party of 10. Our party will include four kids ranging in age from 4 to 13 so it can't be any place too fancy (like 2941 in Falls Church -- I looked at their menu and while it looks amazing, I don't think it's right for a party with kids). I would like to discuss the menu with the restaurant ahead of time and have them make a special cake for the occasion. Someone recommended the Comus Inn near Sugarloaf Mountain and I'd be interested to hear about your experience if you've been there. I thought an inn in MD or VA or someplace on the water would be nice but am open to all suggestions!

I just went to a party at the Hunter's Inn in Potomac Village. Seemed nice.

May be too casual, but I've been to nice parties at Maggiano's. Chef Geoff's in Tysons has an area they can close off, and they are family friendly but some of the food can be quite nice.

Also, a hotel could put a small dinner on for your, either in their restaurant or a private room - I've been to several showers at area hotels like that. The Ritz Carlton Hotel did my wedding cake and it was beautiful.
