Good move. Reproductive freedom is good for business, actually.

Elrich also canceled all official taxpayer-funded travel of county employees to anti-abortion states. Good. I don't want my taxes going to Christian Taliban states either. |
Agree. |
| What’s he offering to get them here and how much will it cost us? |
Largely symbolic. Council members are of course exempt. |
| Oh, now Elrich is all of a sudden interested in wooing businesses to Montgomery County? “We have abortions!” is not exactly the slogan that draws businesses, Marc. |
It’s enough for me. - small business owner in VA who will move my company and family if Youngkin does anything. |

^^^
Sure you will. |

I always liked Elrich, and he does not disappoint me now.
He's getting up there in years though, so if a younger person with a similar mindset wants to take over, that's fine by me. |
| Why are county employees traveling at all? I bet they aren’t, which is why this is a pointless pledge. |
Shhhhhhhh. Abortion counts, not money |
I haven’t decided on a destination yet - MD vs other state - but I won’t live in a state that treats women as second class citizens. My kids are looking at options overseas if Congress tries a national ban. |
It’s mainly conferences. |
But will you move to Montgomery County, when places like Frederick, Howard, and Prince Georges are much more business-friendly? Elrich might sway people to come to Maryland, but I don't think he's going to be able to get them to locate in MoCo. |
There aren't many who travel. So much is offered right here in the DC area. There are a few conferences, but funding for those has been seriously reduced in most departmental budgets. |
Depends on the business. HoCo is as business friendly as MoCo. Not much difference. MoCo is bigger and has a bigger pool of workers to choose from. Also closer to DC, and three airports. So, again, really depends on the type of business. I was just saying to my spouse about the high tech company I work with that has a sizeable presence in Austin. They are going to allow their employees to move out of state, no questions asked. |
