Favorite old school/cheap kitchen item that you love & use often?

As I cooked tonight, I was struck by how often I still use my 50s-era Juice King citrus juicer. It's one of those chrome beasts that has a hand lever. With all the fancy implements in my kitchen, I still rely on this workhorse.

I use our bamboo toast tongs all the time.

I've had an OXO vegetable peeler for what seems like 20 years. Still good as new.

I also use my manual eggbeaters with the hand crank surprisingly often.

OXO peeler - it's old, the handle metal finish has peeled, but works MUCH better than any newer ones I bought trying to replace it.
A tiny, 3-inch grater that I use to grate garlic several times a week. My garlic press is gathering dust.

I have the same one and it’s probably just as old. Also use my cast iron pan daily.

Wooden spoons for stirring almost every time I cook. Manual can opener which is 30 plus years old. I just replaced my box grater because hub put it in dishwasher and it started to rust- before that it had been going strong also for 30 plus years.

A tiny whisk — like the size of two index fingers. It looks like a toy, but it’s incredibly useful. It’s easier to use and easier to clean than a full-sized quick.

The 4 sided metal grater. It’s at least 30 years old and definitely didn’t cost very much. The jar opener by OXO is at least 20 years old, and gets used almost daily.

That IKEA rainbow pack of plastic kid plates, bowls, and cups. They’re the perfect size for snacks and don’t take up much room in the dishwasher. Everybody uses them in my house, not just kids.

You're not concerns about leaching, especially with them going in the dishwasher?
