I've always thought property taxes are a bit strange - through no action of your own, values go up and you owe the local government more money.
How about giving homebuyers and homeowner a break and reduce property tax rates? |
| There are all kinds of property tax credits you can apply for if you need them. |
I was thinking just a simple reduction in the rate. |
| In Montgomery County? I don't think any of the MoCo politicians could ever conceive such a concept! |
| Not a chance, we have no businesses moving here, so property taxes are all they've got. |
+1. Attract business growth. Then maybe we can get some property tax reduction. |
| If you like high property taxes you can thank our “moderate” councilmember Friedson. |
This is backwards. How can you attract business investment with high taxes? Riemer cut property taxes for developers. Why don’t regular citizens get a break? |
|
Improve the schools, and do something about the horrid traffic. Top companies will move their large headquarters when their employees kids can attend excellent schools and it won't take them an hour to get to work.
If those things aren't done, the county is doomed. No businesses will come. We will build more housing and get more density (and give developers tax breaks), increasing traffic issues and making the schools more overcrowded. It's a downward spiral |
Really? I’m a new, struggling homeowner – where would I get information about this! Thank you! |
+1 this guy is beyond useless. He gets praised as a great financial steward yet more and more companies are ending up in NortherN Virginia. If you call his office for anything, they are not helpful. |
| Lol. Reduce tax in MoCo?? |
|
Rich people are being enriched by rising home values, and your plan is to …..reduce the tax burden on the rich?
Nope. - homeowner |
He wanted to raise them so he could cut development taxes. Funny, I haven’t seen developers pass their savings onto customers. |
