DC/Nova - a week without kids, where should we eat out?

Anonymous
Kids will be with the grandparents for a week and we want to make some dinner reservations. We haven't been out to eat at a nice, popular, happening restaurant in a long time. Where should we go?

Highly recommend Rooster & Owl in DC

I think I’d go for interesting food that my kids would turn their noses up at or an experience that would be difficult with kids. Maybe Iron Age—a nicer Korean place—or the tasting menu at Minibar or Compass Rose? Sushi Taro? That Caribbean place that was just reviewed in the post looks great. Enjoy!!!!

We just had this experience! Went to Ruthies, Amber (Arlington) and Imperfecto (DC). Also ordered sushi and Indian.

Expensive: Minibar, Jont, Pineapple and Pearls
Less expensive: Cranes, Modena, Karma Modern Indian, Sfoglina, Eddie V (tysons), Fogo de Chao (tysons)
Even less expensive: Oyamel, Pisco y Nasca, Doi Moi, Aracosia (McLean)

DC: Iron Gate, Minibar/Barmini, Kaz

Old Town Alexandria: Taverna Cretekou, Le Refuge, Cafe 44 (just drinks/ambiance, food is just OK)

Also...jealous, OP. You go!
