| Our budget is 750/800 and would like 4 bedrooms and at least a 1/4 acre. What are these neighborhoods like? Good to raise kids? Are the schools ok? Amenities? What are the demographics in the neighborhood? Mostly professionals? Anyone live here and love it? Why? |
| Get in before they rid the area of old confederate names -- get in before the prices rise. |

Neighborhoods are great, lots of kids on all the streets, kids riding bikes, couples walking dogs, neighbors stopping by to chat.
Daniels run trails are easy to access, fairfax has rock the block, fall fest and several other family friendly events, great library, OLH has the Halloween parade with fire engine escort. The city will literally take anything off your curb on garbage day, refrigerators, mattresses, anything, just drag it to the curb and it’s picked up. The mayor and city council members can be found at most local gatherings. |
| Fairfax high school is pretty good from what i hear |
| We lived in OLH for more than a decade and loved it. We moved into Fairfax County to a different school pyramid for middle school and regret it in many ways, especially on trash day. The schools are better than their Great Schools ratings would indicate. We had a good experience with Daniels Run but were NOT fans of Mosby Woods (the AAP center Fairfax City schools feed into). |
Small town feel and you can not beat being able to put anything on the curb for pick up. Plus we have leaf vacuuming Oct 1 - Dec 30 and again for one month in April. |
| We are considering Fairfax city. What's OLH? |
| OLH = Old Lee Hills |

Long ago City of Fairfax resident and I you also have the benefit of small-town government services like police and fire.
Very family friendly area with nice walkability to Daniels Run ES and Fairfax HS. Fairfax HS is a nice HS and I say this as a long term substitute teacher. It’s one of my favorite of the FCPS HS. |

It's really nice. There's a community pool, churches and schools within walking distance, Daniel's Run park for exercise and walks, downtown old town for ice cream, parades, chocolate festival... not too far from metro. It's really a sweet spot just outside the beltway, and not cheap but comparaaively a bargain. If you found a house there you like, I'd jump on it.
PS also lots of great restaurants! |

I’ve been looking at these two neighborhoods too. This one is a major remodel/addition and was out of our price range.

I graduated from FHS, it’s a shame that I can’t afford this area. We live there growing up, and I loved living there, Daniels Run is also Great school |
| Is there anyone with kids at Fairfax High School? It’s a really big school and seems middle of the road as far as Fairfax county high schools go. What are the advanced academic tracks like? Is there support for college search and placement? Are the academics strong? |
I really like the remodel. |
Yes and yes and yes. Academics are strong. A plethora of APs offered. The career center has a fabulous career specialist who is well informed and dedicated. There’s something and someone for everyone at FHS. |
