Need to limit access to all site except one on a chrome book. Parental controls help please!

DD has various online math assignments to complete this summer on IXL. We have a persistent problem with DD leaving IXL (or school-focussed pages) and hopping onto, say, YouTube or Pinterest. Can somebody explain to me how to, on a chromebook, confine her to only IXL and block access to all other websites? I have tried googling for that answer but it looks like only "enterprise" chrome has this ability. Is that right? Is there a parental controls app that I can purchase that will achieve that result? Thanks so much!

You may want to ask Jeff to move this to the Tech forum, but would something like this work

Thank you so much for both tips! And to the poster who said to let my child relax, this is a school assignment, not mine, and I actually don’t have a problem with 30 mins of math a few times a week.

You might be able to do what you want at your internet gateway. FiOS provides Parental Controls to control access on specific devices. Xfinity probably provides something similar. Who is your service provider?

Is this on personal chromebook? Well, your child needs a google login. I would create a profile for her chromebook that she can only log into that account. From there, you can set up family link to control websites of where she can go on, and which she cannot. Depends on how tight you want the filter to be. You can also set it up such that you can put a block or time limit on the apps she uses.

Thanks so much for the guidance. We have xfinity and it is a personal chromebook. I have purchased an extremely basic chromebook and the school has an ixl account that she needs to access to do her work. Where do I go to set up the family link to control websites? Apologies for being a tech luddite. I really appreciate the help!

I use the Circle to control my kids access to the internet. I can block/allow specific sites.

This is the starting point for Xfinity. https://www.xfinity.com/hub/parental-controls

Here's an Xfinity forum that would probably know more than me since I am using FiOS

https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/parental-controls-mac-address-ip-address-or-device-name/61e055249fe2d51cfcd2fa16

Naturally, if you have Xfinity, you can call tech support. This should be one thing they can answer since it isn't billing related.

You can use website blocking sites and add all the major ones to it very easily. You just type in a list of addresses she won't be able to go to.
