She's a blip. She's trying so hard to make a 3-week at-home quarantine into her own civil rights crusade. Total non-story concocted to take attention away from Ebola in W. Africa, and to give us peons something to argue about while we wait the 21 days since Spencer went Bowling for Ebola.

He may have noticed the media meltdown everytime a black person barfs and decided to keep it to himself since the risk is basically nil.

So he lied. Whatever his motive, the takeaway from this is that we can't necessarily expect even MSF doctors to do the prudent thing-- which is quarantine. He knew he shouldn't have taken public transport. He knew there was a risk. "Basically nil" does not equal zero risk.

Agree - she's wierdly defiant about something that seems like basic common sense. Yes, of course, until symptoms appear, a person isn't contagious. But what is to say that a person couldn't be out and about or traveling or in a public space like a school or public transport, and begin to show symptoms. The chances are small, perhaps, but this is nonetheless a possibility.

I wouldn't want to think for a second that I'd infected anyone with a potentially deadly disease and if I were in her shoes I'd undertake a quarantine in a heartbeat. Cannot imagine why these health care workers are so cavalier.
