| my kid's team is schedule to play in fairfax stars summer league....but there's no schedule yet? Is that normal? He has a teammate playing on another team that does the st james league...is that league better? |
| Last year, we would get the schedule for the week the Friday night before that week. Yes, Fairfax Stars is ridiculously disorganized. The St James league I think is new this year, and a lot of leagues when to them instead of the Stars b/c they promised nicer courts, more organized schedules etc. But, they are charging admission fees for their games which I think will surprise a lot of people used to the Stars. |
| and be prepared to have refs be a no show or late. |
| Stars summer tournament is both a lot of fun for the kids and a total s@#t show. Some of the courts will be great, others terrible, some times you'll be missing refs, other times you'll be missing clocks. |
Admission fees are standard for AAU, but harder to pull off in FCPS gyms because FCPS charges a higher rental fee is you charge admission. |
| You don’t have to pay at Saint James. You can watch from an upstairs window. |

When does the ST James schedule come out?
|
I don't know. Waiting for it too. |
Games started yesterday. I think every Tues/Thurs |

We just got the Stars schedule for next week and the St James league really took all their customers. They only have 5-8 teams per age group and last year had multiple divisions per age group--they are easily down 2/3rds or more from last year. Ouch. And all the AAU teams that usually play Stars are at St James.

We were at the St. James games last night.
A coach from a Family over Fame boys team (maybe 8th or 9th grade) made a complete fool out of himself, got two technical fouls and was not asked to leave by staff, and was allowed to just hang out in the gym. He should have been made to leave the premises. Extremely poor sportsmanship and judgment by the St James staff to allow him to stay around. |
Its on the Tourney Machine app. |
FOF is a bad organization. Was it the tall slim dark skinned coach? |
Nah, he was kind of short. There were kids taller than him. I have never seen a coach behave like that in any sport. He screamed at the kids, made them run laps during a time out and then for some reason told a kid to just stand on the court and watch while everyone else played. It was completely psychotic. I am shocked parents allow their kids to be treated like that. |
