Accessing Canvas/StudentVUE from outside US

DC will have to access her summer classes from outside the US as family will be traveling due to an emergency. Classes are virtual (central summer high school program) and so we are hoping DC can still do the classes. Are canvas and studentVUE accessible from outside US? Do we need a VPN? Any problems that we need to be aware of?

Wondering since I heard from an acquaintance that he could not access parentVUE/canvas a few months ago when he was traveling outside US.

Last year we had a kid doing remote school from Ghana for a month (no vpn).

Canvas should work. Unless you are in China where google classroom probably will not work.

Apparently they did, but it worked only some times - for example, a Colorado server would work, but DC server would not even though they were able to use the VPN for other things. Strange, but this is just one data point and the fact that it worked some times makes me think this may not be an MCPS issue. Still, I am hoping for more anecdotes from DCUM ...

It could be that MCPS IT recognizes the IP address for the local VPN servers but not those in other cities. Our company has three different VPN subscriptions for employees because we've found that some services work better in certain geographic areas than others.
