Anyone have background or experience with this program? DS may try out for one of their younger teams. Thank you.
Similar question. Is this organization taking over the St. James travel program or are they merging?
I think the travel baseball program run out of the St James is Richmond Braves Nova at this point. Kind of like soccer is FCV basically run out of the ST James. The team my kid plays is known as Richmond Braves Nova STJ. It seems like the model is to affiliate with a successful name in the sport and then run it out of the St James, bringing families into the St James. You can go on GameChanger and see how most of the teams are doing. The rising 13u was basically the Mt Vernon Patriots and most of the team (including the coach) moved over to Richmond Braves Nova. I’m not familiar with the younger teams.
I don't know anything about the younger teams but the original Richmond Braves is a top ten regional baseball club for high school players looking to play college ball, especially at the D1 level. Their showcase teams travel all over the east coast for tournaments to get their players in front of college coaches.
Our family has experience with the St. James baseball program in its original iteration, and would not recommend that level of disorganization and non-communication. Perhaps this new outfit is making them step up, but make sure to ask a lot of questions before you commit.
This can be true, but their lower teams are getting diluted quickly. I’d liken them to the Stars now. Some teams are National showcase level, and some are average nvtbl level. Be careful to know exactly which team your child is being invited to join. |
